The DMV has announced new guidelines for reopening . Please scroll down to read more.
Covid - 19 Guidelines:
Students and instructors will need face coverings. Cars will be disinfected between students. Windows will be left open for ventilation. Vehicles will have gloves and hand sanitizer.
Update - June 28
The DMV will open for road tests and inspections as planned on June 29th. However, inside the agencies will be closed until July 7th due to technical difficulties with their new texting system. If you still need to reschedule a road test, the link below for Randolph should also be working on June 29th. The links received in the mail are for new, temporary testing centers such as: Westfield MVC, Middlesex County College, Mercer County College, Union County College, Montclair State University, Rowan University, and Seacaucus MVC.
Update - June 17
It appears the website to reschedule a road test online went live today. It seems the link is live sporadically.
Update - June 5
First, we hope you are all safe and we look forward to beginning to offer our services again soon. Here are some highlights from the press conference on June 5 with Sue Fulton, the Director of the NJ DMV.
-If your road test was cancelled, you will be given priority rescheduling by receiving a secure link via regular mail from the DMV to use to reschedule a new date. Eleven new temporary testing sights and 100 new examiners have been added around the state. They expect to triple the amount of daily road tests. Using your secure link, you may schedule online new appointments for road tests which will begin again on June 29. We have heard that students have not received the secure links yet as of June 14.
-Also starting June 15, Driving schools will be able to drop off permits in bulk for processing and validation. We will drop off our new permit applications for the students who have signed up and have been waiting to start their 6 hours behind-the-wheel. We will begin review lessons for those students with permits who have already completed the 6 hours and are preparing for their road test.
-Also starting June 29, the DMV will be operating under a new system eliminating the full service facility and creating new specialized facilities: Vehicle Centers for registrations, titles, and all things related to vehicles (Washington and Newton) and Licensing Centers for permits, license renewals, and driver testing (Randolph and Flemington). We can start scheduling our new students for lessons at this time. Road tests will also start on this day (you should already have an appointment). We assume existing road tests scheduled a year to six months ago for June 29 and after will still be valid.
-Call now for review lessons or to book the road test service. Due to the volume of the road tests each day as we clear up the backlog, we may need to adjust our road test service procedures.
